front page options & settings in article site manager ®
The ASM front page options allow you massive control over your site's main landing page. Keeping that page, above all others, updated with fresh content will provide the search engines and your readers with a reason to return to your site on a regular basis! The ASM front page settings allow you to set up article rotation:
- hourly
- daily
- weekly
- monthly
- never (manually)
You may also set up how the application selects articles for the main page:
- Pull articles randomly
- Pull articles from database in ascending order (by id)
- Pull articles from database in descending order (by id)
Article Updates Database and Front Page Rotation
Normally articles used for the front page rotation are pulled from the main articles database, however when you load articles into the system using the bulk article loader the system automatically switches to pulling articles from the updates table. Each time the system is told to update the front page the application pulls an article from the updates table and adds it to the main articles table, then sets the article as the main page of your website.
For instance, if you have your front page rotation set to daily and add 500 articles to the updates table your site will auto update with fresh new content every day for 17 months without you ever having to do a thing! Once you run out of articles in the updates table the system returns to pulling content from the main articles table.
Manually Set Front page Article
The administration panel also allows you to set an article as the main landing page article by entering the article id you wish to use or by using the 'set random article to front page' option.
